Following a well attended and popular training day in May, a
further two days were arranged in September.
Meeting both days at Kings Pools, Shareshill, Wolverhampton, and
well fortified by tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches, courtesy of
Mr. Dave King, the groups moved off to Hilton Park, by kind
permission of Mr. David Shacklock.
After the very mixed weather we had been having the sun shone on
both days on a mixture of dogs taking part to include Spaniels,
Labradors, German Shorthaired Pointers, a Spinone and also two
very able crossbreeds, with all the handlers choosing to attend
either one or both of the days.
Without exception, it was obvious that all the dogs attending
again had improved over the four months, which gave Steve
Kimberley, the invited trainer, some encouragement.
The dogs and handlers were exhaustively put through their paces,
with much encouragement from Steve, over the two days, to
include specific problem solving which everyone agreed was
marvellous......especially if they could do as well at home on
their own..!!! Special mention must go to Mr Richard Garbutt's
German Shorthaired Pointer, Ellie, who worked exceptionally well
both days. Both days finished off with some water work which
miraculously seemed to revitalise many a flagging dog...!!!!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Dave King, Mr
David Shacklock and of course Steve Kimberley for all
contributing to two very full but thoroughly enjoyable days.
A presentation of a framed and mounted photograph taken at our
May training by Mr Fred Drew, was made to Mr Dave King at the
request of the committee for his continued and much appreciated
support.
