The Shropshire
Gundogs Open Qualifying English Springer Spaniel Stake was held on 10th
November at Pen Bedw Estate in
Mold by kind permission of Brian Hatton.
A full card of 16 dogs ran and the quality was of such a standard that by the end of the trial only 5 dogs had been put out. Judges Jon Bailey and Dan Shotton saw each dog put in good long runs with plenty of cover for the dogs to show their hunting skills and just the right amount of birds for each dog to have a retreive on its run. Keeper Nigel Walker was commended for the excellent ground. The weather on the day was perfect.
Results :
1st Mr John Edwards handling for D Ferrier with "Edwardiana Black Magic", a two year old dog.
2nd Andrew Whitehouse with home bred, three year old bitch "Doncaster Star".
3rd Ian English with "Helmsway Halo"
4th David Rockall with "Gorzone Grafter".
